Damen W. Hershberger, MD, combines a calming and reassuring bedside manner with his medical expertise to deliver patients a personalized care experience. Dr. Hershberger also works hard to facilitate trust in shared decision making with patients. The birth of a child is one of the most joyful times in one’s life, but it can also be scary and anxiety provoking. Helping a patient and their loved ones navigate the uncertainties without fear and providing them affirmation and reassurance in a truly life-changing event is what Dr. Hershberger finds most rewarding in his work with Heartland Women’s Group. Dr. Hershberger, the son of a physician, witnessed firsthand from a young age that one of the greatest gifts a doctor can provide their patient is the pledge to be available. It is Dr. Hershberger’s hope that every one of his patients will find comfort in knowing that he is dedicated to being available and providing a compassionate practice setting that reflects the trust patients place in their doctor. The knowledge and surgical skills Dr. Hershberger has worked tirelessly to refine highlight his devotion to his patients and providing exceptional care. In addition to delivering “more babies than he can count”, Dr. Hershberger has lectured internationally on the subject of minimally invasive surgery techniques. He is also a daVinci-certified robotic surgeon, and takes great pride in his role as a clinical instructor with the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Hershberger has been married to his amazing and supportive wife Natalie for ten years. They were both born and raised in Wichita, and together they have four children who remind them daily of the importance of family and the excitement that children can bring to our lives!
